So Let It Go is a continuation of a body of photographic work based on the idea of ‘the hybrid’. The starting point for this work was a critique on the exaggerated practices of ‘blurring’ characters on film/TV to create a woman of indefinable age; the so-called ‘age zero’ which seems to signify the gradual erasure of female identities, replaced with homogenized representations. Through both manipulation of form, the generalizing of the context, and the labouring sound, the overall effect suggests the end of an existence rather than an iconic omnipresence. Here the device of blurring comes close to obliterating the woman so that she loses all form and features, appearing to bleed and deconstruct into her environment.
